School Band at LISTThe music department at Lanna International School has long had a strong association with guitar music outside of it's regular concert music curriculum. It's premier rock band, “First Hundred Thousand” has experienced a great deal of success in the last couple of years. It has won the Chiang Mai Challenge of the Bands 2 out of the 3 years it has been running, and recently placed 2nd in the inaugural BCC Music Contest, also taking away prizes for best keyboard player and best bass player. These boys show an extraordinary talent well beyond their years, and continually challenge themselves to achieve greater levels of success. Along with their music teacher Mr Lindsay Stevenson, they have inspired a new generation of students to form bands within the school. The music department has an impressive arsenal of instruments for the students to play, and most lunchtimes and after school hours you will find the students honing their abilities. This camaraderie and group participation within this fertile environment fosters positive relationships amongst the students, which in turn develops a stronger sense of unity amongst the student body. |
