Big Vase pictures by Years 5 and 8.
Students were asked to work in groups of 4 or 5 on this piece of large-scale artwork. Firstly a symmetrical vase was carefully drawn on large white paper. Then on other piece of paper a table was drawn from imagination. Some students painted. Some added images from magazines. Some tore up strips of coloured paper to use. Some created mono-prints of flowers or other images using printing ink. All of this was gradually assembled into large collages of the different media used. Most pieces were as high as an average person is tall, and in some cases higher. Many of the finished pieces were auctioned at two school events (a PTO family BBQ, and a music evening called Talent At Twilight) to raise money for more materials for the Art Department. Students who had produced the artworks received half of the final bid price from each piece.
