| Careers and College Fair – Thursday October 4th 2007

| This year our Year 12 and 13 students attended a College Fair at Prem. The majority of universities and colleges represented were from USA, but there were also five or six from Thailand and a few with campuses in Thailand and other Asian countries. A newcomer to the circuit this year was the Academia Italiana, an Italian fashion school based in Florence, which has recently opened up a Bangkok campus.
Most students talked with representatives and found the time useful. Several of the students attended a talk on “How to choose a university” and said it was useful. A couple of students felt that they had found the place they would like to go or a course that they would really like to study. Rudia and Eun Ae were extremely interested in the Italian arts courses and Ann spent a long time with the representative from Creighton University, talking about medical science courses.
Some students, on the other hand, were disappointed as they could not find any information on courses that they were interested in. Danny talked with the Thai universities, but could not find one that offered aeronautical engineering.
Raffles College, which has campuses all over this part of Asia, now offer courses in hospitality and tourism and business, as well as their art and design courses. These subjects are the most popular choices of study for our students, so I extended an invitation for them to come and present their courses to us at Lanna. They have agreed to do so and we await further communication.
All in all it was a good afternoon and evening and a worthwhile experience for our students.
