On the 10th October 2007 Lanna School participated in the U12 Tag Rugby World Cup. This competition joined both local and international school teams together for an exciting afternoon of tag rugby. Each team drew a nation from ‘the hat’ and represented this nation wearing their specially made shirts.
Lanna fielded two teams - becoming Canada and Fiji. Fiji were eliminated in the group stages of the competition and Canada played very well before losing in the quarter finals to New Zealand. Canada also won the referees vote for the ‘SPORTMANSHIP AWARD’ which was a good reflection of the team’s happy and polite attitude.
The competition was eventually won by a local Thai school representing Argentina.
I would like to thank the students for their enthusiasm for the event and the fine manner in which they represented the school. Also thanks to Miss Elle for her assistance on tournament day, and to the parents for being so supportive and cooperative with collection of students after practice and tournament days. THANKS!
