Lanna International School are committed to Child Protection, not only at Lanna International School itself, but for all children, everywhere. It was with great pride that we accepted an invitation to the British Embassy in Bangkok to be part of the launch of a new Child Protection film that we partly sponsored. This film will be viewed by children across Thailand.

The British based organization Child Exploitation and Online Protection (CEOP) work with police forces across the world to prevent child abuse. All teaching staff at LIST receive regular Child Protection training, with members of the school's Child Protection Committee having attended a three day training event delivered in Thailand by CEOP.

It was at this training event last year that LIST teaching staff formed strong links with CEOP and became part of a small group of organizations dedicated to raising funds to make a 10 minute animated film to be shown to children in Thailand. The film aims to highlight important key points in basic Child Protection. The film was made by a local animated film production company in Bangkok and is called The Mai and Tam Tales; it is released in both Thai and English.

The launch of the film was held at the private residence of His Excellency Asif Ahmed the British Ambassador at the British Embassy in Bangkok. It was attended by 40 prominent guests who represented the organizations that helped to take the project from a simple story board to a completed animated film. The guests included Chris Gibson OBE Director of the British Council in Thailand, Greg Watkins Executive Director of the British Chamber of Commerce Thailand and CEOP Director of Operations in Asia Tim Gerrish.

It was a memorable morning and LIST is proud to be at the forefront of this pioneering work to protect all children from abuse, not only in Chiang Mai but across the whole of SE Asia and beyond.
