Ms Amy Jayne Ramsey is an enthusiastic and caring early childhood educator and leader, with a drive and passion for nurturing education, care and wellbeing of all children. She holds a Master in Education, Bachelor of Arts, PGCE and background in Forest School and EYFS settings, with more than 15 years experience working internationally in early childhood education, supporting children, families and practitioners throughout the magic and wonder of early years play, exploration and imagination.
Ms Amy is a leader in The Curiosity Approach and supports accreditation processes in international schools and earned the pioneer award for the first Curiosity Approach accredited setting in Thailand, alongside an amazing early childhood team. Ms Amy also founded a sharing hearts foundation in 2015 which supports children, schools and families in local areas of Northern Thailand. In 2021, she also created an early childhood support network, which is a platform for families, friends and early years teachers from all over the world to benefit from and who believe in celebrating the image of the child, ensuring each child has the best start in life.

So our community can get to know her, we asked her a few questions:
What inspired you to specialise in early childhood education?
“Imagine little hands mixing and splodging thick paint, the sound of crunchy leaves being trod upon, the fascination of raindrops, the twirling marks of natural clay, the excitement of a bumble bee, the sight of friendship. Early childhood is filled with magic, awe and wonder and it should be celebrated every day. The beauty of early childhood is what inspires me every day to ensure all children have the best start in life. Specialising in this area and stage of development has been a strong calling for me from a young age, through volunteering, project work and being a part of shaping the future by providing a safe, loving and enriching environment where all children can grow, explore and feel valued. I love to make a difference, even in the smallest moments. A kind word, a smile or an exciting new curiosity can have an impact which lasts a lifetime.”
What excites you most about leading the department at LANNA? How do you envision shaping the EY programme to foster a strong foundation for lifelong learning?
“Joining LANNA and getting to work alongside passionate individuals who love all things Early Years, see the smiling faces of the children in our care and share conversations with the families in our community, getting to know everyone is something I am truly looking forward to. LANNA is nestled in the heart of Chiang Mai, which is also a place I call my home, and I am excited to become a part of such a welcoming community.
Childhood is often the first place where we begin to see and use the environment imaginatively. From a child’s perspective, play is the essence of childhood, creating an environment which is alive and filled with a unique purpose. Our Early Years team at LANNA knows and understands the unique and natural curiosities of the children in our care, and together we will continue to create a warm and safe environment for every child at LANNA.
I work from the heart throughout everything I do, striving to create an environment which is filled with inspiration and is tailored to each individual. I am passionate about outdoor learning, forest school approaches and specialise in leading through a Curiosity Approach. Early childhood is the first stage of development in life—these are the most special and magical years—so ensuring that all our children are happy, healthy, and have fun in all the experiences we have to offer at LANNA is my top priority. This will ensure our children have a secure foundation for lifelong learning and beyond. Children are the happiness of our society, filled with unique ideas, awe and some of the best stories I have ever heard. Play doesn’t stop at the end of early years; we need to play and laugh all throughout life.”
