Meet Chris, a new parent at LANNA, whose son joined in January 2026.
Q: What was your main priority when moving to Chiang Mai?
One of our biggest priorities when moving to Chiang Mai was finding the right school for our kids. When settling here from the UK, we knew this was a decision we’d have to form our lives around, so it was something we had to get right. It’s been a journey – often a struggle – but since making the decision to join LANNA, that weight we felt has completely vanished and been replaced with calm reassurance that we’re in the right place.
Q: What was your experience first meeting the LANNA team?
Our first experience with LANNA was meeting the admissions team. From the start, they’ve been really approachable, thorough, proactive, and genuinely impressive in how they handle questions – and I mean any questions! They made our transition feel well supported and continue to check in with us to make sure we’re ok.
Q: Why did you opt for a British school and curriculum?
It was important to us that we could send our son to a British international school to keep a sense of familiarity with home. The teaching quality at LANNA is everything I’d expect from a British school, and in many ways more.
Q: What is your son enjoying at LANNA?
Our son has developed a real enjoyment for subjects like music and drama, which he wouldn’t normally gravitate towards in the UK, and he’s built positive relationships with teachers in his favourite subjects, particularly science, through shared interests like fish-keeping. This has helped him feel that his voice is valued and that he can share his own knowledge with confidence.
Q: How have you found LANNA’s teachers?
What stood out early on was how quickly the teachers got to know our son. Within a couple of weeks of joining LANNA, we met his teachers and they all knew his name and were able to give thoughtful feedback on how he was settling in and participating in class – it’s clear they’d made an effort to understand him as an individual.
Q: How has your family settled into our caring community?
What we value about LANNA is that we belong to a community that’s genuinely open, warm, confident, and welcoming.
There’s always something happening that brings families together – whether that’s parent coffee mornings, BBQs, pop-up markets, bake sales, and all sorts of other events organised by the PTO. What’s great is that the PTO at LANNA is an integral part of school life rather than something casual or separate, and it’s given us the opportunity to meet other parents and teachers in a relaxed setting and feel connected beyond what happens in the classroom. There’s a real openness in the relationship between parents and the school, and families are seen as partners in their children’s education rather than just observers. That sense of inclusion makes a big difference.
Q: What are you looking forward to next?
LANNA’s a school that understands where it’s going and what foundations it needs to sit on to get there. The future for our kids is always evolving – who knows what they’ll be doing in 20 years time – and LANNA recognises this and is building to prepare them for that future.
