From the early years onwards our students are actively engaged in music appreciation and learning the skills of making music. If students are keen to explore music they have the option to learn an instrument and take Music as a class option to a higher level.

There are several student bands in school and we also have a small school orchestra and several other smaller ensembles. Many of these bands and ensembles perform at Chiang Mai events such as the Chiang Mai balloon festival.

A few years ago one of our student rock bands won the Chiang Mai Battle of The Bands competition, a popular event with numerous young professional bands competing from around the region.

Lanna students who play instruments or who sing take part in an annual Chiang Mai wide celebration of classical music and choral singing. Students join a large orchestra and choir and perform concerts for parents and public audiences.

Lanna International School is proud to introduce our new one-on-one instrument tuition programme. Lessons will be available to all students from Year 1 to Year 9 on a variety of instruments. We firmly believe this is a major enhancement to the musical education offered to our school community, and we look forward to seeing Lanna students blossom musically in the coming years.

Lessons will be available in 8 week blocks, and each lesson will be 30 minutes long. Most lessons will take place during the school day on a rotational basis, and will be taught by visiting and existing professional music teachers.

There will also be the option available of studying and sitting for the ABRSM music exams on the instrument of choice. We encourage our students to participate in these world class musical examinations, as they will receive invaluable feedback at an international level.
