For the coming academic year, beginning August 2019, we are seeking to appoint a fully qualified, experienced, and highly motivated teacher of Geography. Geography is an established and popular subject within the school and the successful candidate will have the opportunity to teach the subject at KS3, IGCSE and A Level.

We are a British international school and the successful candidate will ideally have experience of teaching geography within this system. At IGCSE we currently follow the syllabus of Cambridge International Examinations, and at A Level the IAL Geography syllabus offered by Edexcel. The successful candidate must be confident and secure in their knowledge of Geography at Key Stages 4 and 5.

The successful candidate will work alongside a middle school humanities teacher who will teach some KS3 geography classes, but they will be the sole teacher of the high school geography courses – responsible for ongoing planning, development and successful delivery of these courses. They will work alongside many dedicated, able and passionate Secondary teachers within a small, but highly successful, innovative, and not least – very friendly school.

The school promotes high standards in all areas, not just academics. As such, you will be expected to take a full and active role in the life of the school; not only within your classroom and your own subject area. See the Co-curricular section of our website for details of some of the many school activities that take place, and that you would be expected to volunteer to be involved with in some ways.

Secondary English Teacher (KS3 and above) with ESL knowledge and experience

For the coming school year, beginning August 2019, we are seeking to appoint a highly qualified and exceptional teacher of mainstream English with a particular focus on KS3/4. Teachers who are not fully qualified and certified teachers of English need not apply as such applications will not be considered. TEFL/CELTA/TESOL is not sufficient.

The English department at Lanna is very focused on the importance of reading, writing and developing English skills that facilitate success across the whole curriculum. Within the school teachers are encouraged to be innovative and also remain aware of contemporary educational research and how this can inform and improve curriculum delivery. Indeed, departmental members are encouraged to collaborate and participate in action research.

We are seeking a teacher who can bring insightful ideas and innovative classroom practice to engage students. The successful candidate will be an experienced educator with the additional experience of working with non-native speakers to develop academic writing skills. We are a true international school with students speaking many languages, therefore, a PGCE (or equivalent) is essential, with an additional qualification such as CELTA/TEFL being a positive extra. In addition to this, the successful candidate will ideally have experience of teaching English within a UK framework. At IGCSE we currently follow the syllabus of Cambridge International Examinations with English being offered as a first language, second language and also Literature. At A Level we offer combined Language and Literature following the Edexcel syllabus. The successful candidate must be confident and secure in their knowledge of English at KS3 and preferably through to KS4 and 5.

The successful candidate will work within a highly focused department alongside teachers who consistently achieve good results. Last year the department achieved 100% pass rate of A*-C at IGCSE. This is an opportunity to work alongside many dedicated, able and passionate Secondary teachers within a small, but highly successful, innovative, and not least – very friendly school.

Teacher of Art (to A Level) for August start

For the coming school year, beginning August 2019, we are seeking to appoint an exceptional teacher of Secondary art. Art is a very popular and successful subject within the school and whoever is appointed will have the opportunity to develop art at Lanna from this already very positive position, whilst also having the freedom to innovate and teach with a wide variety of mediums. There is also the possibility to host/participate in exhibitions outside of the school, as has already happened several times.

The successful candidate will teach art at KS3, IGCSE and A Level. We currently follow the British IGCSE and A Level syllabuses from Cambridge International Examinations and the successful candidate must be confident of teaching art to this advanced level, including supporting students in the significant written component of CIE’s A Level course. They will be the sole teacher of Secondary level art (with a full-time art assistant) and will be responsible for ongoing planning, development and successful delivery of these courses. They will also have the opportunity to work alongside many dedicated, able and passionate Secondary teachers within a small, but highly successful, innovative, and not least – very friendly school.

The school promotes high standards in all areas, not just academics. As such, you will also be expected to take a full and active role in the life of the school; not only within your classroom and your own subject area. See the co-curricular section of our website for details of some of the many school activities that take place, and that you would be expected to volunteer to be involved with in some ways.

Secondary Mathematics Teacher (to A Level) for August start

For the coming academic year, beginning August 2019, we are in need of a fully qualified, experienced, and dedicated mathematics teacher to join our highly successful mathematics teaching team. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to teach mathematics at a range of levels within the Secondary school, from Year 7 through to IGCSE and A Level. Ideally, they will be able to teach statistics at A level.

In recent years our mathematics department has become one of the most successful in the school with a large uptake at A level, and with many students gaining A and A* grades at that level. All members of the  department are hard-working and dedicated, frequently providing mathematics help to students across the Secondary age range outside of regular scheduled maths class times. The successful candidate must also be hard-working and dedicated, and ideally be keen to join the team in providing additional support to students in need, and thereby encouraging mathematics success for all.

Teacher of Computer Science (to A Level) for August start

For the coming school year, beginning August 2019, we are seeking to appoint an appropriately qualified and experienced teacher of computer science.

The successful candidate will be a fully qualified teacher (PGCE, B.Ed. or equivalent) with experience of teaching computer science at an advanced level. They will join our existing computing teacher to form a department of two. Computing is an increasingly popular subject in the school and we intend to offer Computer Science at A Level for the first time from August. The successful candidate will be expected to take full responsibility for the planning, development and successful delivery of this course. Also, in addition to this new A Level, they may be involved with the teaching of computing at KS3 and/or IT IGCSE and/or the technical side of the CIE Media Studies at A Level (being considered for introduction). Allocation of classes will be somewhat dependant on the skills, experience and interests of the successful candidate, in combination with those of our current teacher of computing.

We are a small, but highly successful and friendly school. You will be joining us at an exciting time when we have just completed our three year roll-out of one-to-one Windows laptops to all students. We are also introducing raspberry Pis and Arduinos and are interested to extend what is being done with these. There is considerable scope for a dedicated and committed computer science teacher to move forward with developing computing within the school – an area that we seek to further develop and support.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work alongside many dedicated, able and passionate Secondary teachers and will have good access to PD opportunities.

We are fully committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, therefore all applicants must be willing to undergo rigorous child protection screening, including checks with past employers and criminal background checks. These checks are always made.
