Lanna International School recruits qualified teachers with international experience, as well as experienced teachers who wish to leave their home country to begin a career in international education.

Qualification Requirements:

Applicants for teaching roles must hold, at minimum, a Bachelor’s degree and full valid teaching certification from their home country e.g. PGCE or B.Ed (TEFL/TESOL/CELTA only candidates will not be considered for employment). Please note that the degree must be directly related to the post that you are applying for. A strong preference is given to candidates who have shown a pattern of involvement in extra-curricular activities. Overseas teaching experience is preferred, but not required.

The Lanna international teacher package includes:

2 Positions:

  1. For a  Year 2 student (Good command of Chinese and English languages)
  2. Early Years student (Good command of the English language)

Under guidance of teaching staff to provide support in addressing the needs of pupils requiring specific help to overcome barriers to learning. The role involves collaboration with teaching staff and parents to enable targeted pupils to fully access the curriculum and gain independence

Key areas of responsibility: 

  • To ensure targeted pupils with specific learning needs are supported in the mainstream classroom e.g restating the class lesson to the pupil.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of education, behaviour, mentoring and other plans by participating in assessment of pupils to determine specific help and supporting provision for children with special needs.
  • Help monitor, evaluate, record and report progress on the Individual Learning Plan (ILP) for specific children.
  • Collaborate with the Learning Support Coordinator and class teachers to plan, evaluate and adjust learning activities and support pupils learning using appropriate resources and strategies.
  • To liaise with parents both formally and informally to communicate progress being made.

Support for the school community:

  • Work as part of a flexible and supportive team to further the values of the school.
  • Attend Learning Support and other relevant meetings to share and develop knowledge and good practice.

Duties include and are not limited to:

  • Follow the directions of the supervising teacher and the Learning Support Coordinator
  • Implement an Individual Learning Plan (ILP) that outlines specific targets to be met
  • Prepare materials as needed
  • Present and work with children on activities as directed by the teacher
  • Assist students individually or in small groups to reinforce teaching points already made by the teacher
  • Supervise the student around the school, at break times and on field trips
  • Follow school policies and rules
  • Present a good role model to students
  • Ensure student health and safety
  • Help students respond and/or interact appropriately with peers in social situations
  • Provide extra assistance to students in need
  • Encourage to initiate discussions with peers and/or staff and seek assistance when needed
  • Assist the specialist teachers with the child
  • Attend meetings as required that include planning and parent-teacher conferences

Essential:

  • must have a good command of Chinese/English languages

For a  Year 2 student (Good command of Chinese and English languages)

Early Years student (Good command of the English language)

  • Preferably have a teaching background
  • must be willing to be trained to modify lessons plans, create materials and resources suited to the needs of the student to access the curriculum (from feedback and observations, work has been modified and not just differentiated)
  • must be able to contribute to discussions regarding action plan targets
  • must be able to work and coordinate with teachers when it comes to setting up work schedules and work systems

Desirable:

  • have experience working with children with learning and behavioural needs
  • have experienced working with in an Early Years environment
  • have background with applying Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) or Cognitive Behaviour Therapy would be a plus.

Working Hours: Mon – Fri 7.30 am. – 4.00 pm. (depending on student time table)
